About LEG
Link for Education Governance (LEG) is a local civil society organization founded in 2006 and active in the education sector in promoting education governance in Malawi. LEG was registered under Trustees Act in 2007 and is a member of Council For NGOs in Malawi (CONGOMA).
Vison and Mission
Link Vision: A country where all its citizens regardless of their socio-economic standing in society have equitable access to quality and relevant basic, secondary and higher education through a system that has desirable ingredients of good governance and democracy.
Mission: LEG stands to promote independent and professional civil society interventions geared towards ensuring efficiency, transparency, accountability and citizen participation in implementation of education policies for the benefit of the poor and marginalized locally and globally.

LEG Founding Objectives
- To support government in promoting access, equity, quality and relevance of basic, secondary and higher education for all people particularly girls, orphans and marginalised children, youth and adults.
- To contribute towards improved management of the country’s education sector by promoting principles of transparency, accountability, decentralisation, participatory democracy, and other forms of good governance in line with existing national and international policies and conventions.
These objectives are to be achieved through the RACA Approach: Research, Analysis, Capacity Building and Advocacy.

LEG STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES 2030
- To promote inclusive and equitable participation of all children in the education sector with special attention to children with special needs, girls and orphans and vulnerable groups.
- To promote quality and relevant education and improved learning outcomes at all levels.
- To ensure active participation of communities in school governance and management.
- To ensure sustainable financing for the education sector
- Tackle corruption and promote transparency and accountability in the education sector.
- Promote environmental protection in all schools.
- To undertake school –related emergency response to mitigate the negative impact of emergency situations such as cyclones, floods, diseases, hunger and others.
- To promote system strengthening at all levels of education through research, policy / budget tracking, capacity building and advocacy.

LEG STRATEGIC OUTCOMES 2025-2030
- More girls, orphans and children with special education needs involved in primary, secondary, TEVET and Higher education levels
- Reduced corruption and improved accountability, governance and management of the education sector
- Improved participation of communities in school management in light of decentralization and national strategy for community participation.
- Schools and communities become more responsive and resilient in promoting learning during emergency situations of emergency situations such as cyclones, floods, diseases, hunger and others.
- Efficient and effective delivery of educational services
- Increased and sustainable financing for education
- Schools are more environmentally-friendly and proactively responsive to climate change.
- Strengthened and resilient education system responding well to the global and local development goals.
